 Meet Dr. Justin Klanke

Dr. Klanke (aka Dr. Justin) grew up in and continues to reside in the greater Cincinnati area.  He earned his bachelor’s degree and graduated first in his program in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.  He worked a few years at the University of Cincinnati in medical research before deciding to change gears (dad engineering pun intended) and pursue a medical degree while giving his best to help his wife raise their first 2 children.  He graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine with an Outstanding rating (>80th percentile).  He was inducted into the national medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha as a lifelong member.

In 2009, Dr. Klanke and his wife moved their family nearly 700 miles from home to experience the much colder state of Minnesota.  While learning new skills of cross country skiing and ice fishing, he completed his anesthesia residency training in Rochester at the Mayo Clinic, including additional pediatric anesthesia training at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

With Dr. Klanke’s roots being in greater Cincinnati, he and his family moved back to the Tristate to private practice anesthesia in 2013.  He worked at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in multiple roles as a staff anesthesiologist, including comprehensive anesthesia care for all ages and subspecialties of pediatric, cardiac, obstetric, regional, and ambulatory.

After nearly a decade in a hospital based system with all ages and knowing he always embraced pediatric anesthesia and ambulatory anesthesia, Dr. Klanke decided to change his focus in early 2022.  He began working with Dr. Devany in pediatric dental offices and immediately welcomed the opportunity every day.  He saw the need for patients and families to be cared for in a relaxed environment and to make dental visits a positive experience.  While he still provides anesthesia at the hospital, he focuses nearly all of his clinical time in pediatric dental offices.

When Dr. Klanke is not found providing anesthesia, he can usually be found at one of a multitude of activities with his family.  With four children in various activities, his life stays very busy.  Even on his busiest day, his wife is likely to be even busier as the family domestic engineer and chief operating officer.  Dr. Klanke does his best to support the Klanke Homeschool as the high school math and science teacher.  He also has recently coached youth basketball and baseball teams.  He and his family have enjoyed many roadtrips around the country with hiking and camping wherever they end up.  One of his favorite hikes was Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park.
